Priyanka Chopra turned heads with her sartorial choices as per usual at the two-day Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre Gala in Mumbai, which she attended with husband Nick Jonas. The couple made a stunning entrance, with Chopra wearing a custom-made sari designed by Amit Aggarwal. The event celebrated India’s impact on global fashion throughout history, and now the designer is sharing the intricate process involved in creating the elegant look with the online community.
Designer Amit Aggarwal shared the intricate details of Chopra’s elegant look on Instagram, following her appearance with Nick Jonas at the NMACC India In Fashion event. He posted images revealing the creative process involved in designing the Citadel star’s sari. The designer mentioned that the outfit was made from a sixty-year-old vintage Banarasi brocade material that featured silver threads and gold electroplating on khadi silk. The modern sari was draped by hand and combined with a holographic bustier that reflected the nine colours of the Ikat weave set in brocade.
“For the second day of @nmacc.india, Priyanka (@priyankachopra) in our custom ensemble styled by Ami (@stylebyami). It was crafted by pairing a sixty-year-old vintage Banarasi brocade saree made using silver threads and a gold electroplating on khadi silk,” Amit Aggarwal wrote in the caption.
He added, “This was draped over and structured with a jewel-toned, moulded body made with our signature unique material and paired with a sequin sheet holographic bustier to reflect the nine colours of Ikat weave that the brocade is set in. The ensemble was crafted across six months, with the original vintage textile handwoven in the craft clusters of Varanasi.”
Meanwhile, Chopra contemporised her look even further by pairing the Banarasi silk sari with a Bulgari choker necklace, diamond ear studs, statement rings, and embellished holographic high heels. For her hairstyle, she opted for lightly-tousled wavy locks parted on the side. Her make-up included shimmering silver eyeshadow, winged eyeliner, mascara, feathered brows, glossy mauve lips, rouged cheekbones, light contouring, and a dewy base.
Talking about her outfit, Chopra added to her caption, “Thank you @stylebyami as always for your amazing collaboration. I knew I wanted to wear an upcycled vintage look with a modern twist! So my outfit was an amalgamation of the east and the west! Like me!
Thank you @amitaggarwalofficial for coming through and creating this handcrafted beauty with a story that is so apt for an evening celebrating Indian art and Fashion.
