Michael Ballard: From Bar Owner to Moonshine Distiller

Michael Ballard is a successful bar owner and motorcyclist with a net worth of $7 million dollars. He is most famous for owning the Full Throttle Saloon, which is located in Sturgis, South Dakota. The bar is the largest biker bar in the world and is visited by an average of 20,000 people per night during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The bar features a tattoo parlor, zip line, wrestling ring, several stores, and parking spaces for several thousand motorcycles at any given time.

Ballard purchased the 30 acres of land that the Full Throttle Saloon now occupies in 1999 and grew it into one of the most successful bar and entertainment locations in the United States. He is a motorcycle enthusiast and sports a full head of dreadlocks, which is a unique style for a bar owner. He is also the subject of a reality series on the TruTV channel, which follows him as he struggles to keep the bar successful and fiscally sound during its shortened season.

In 2013, Ballard returned to his hometown of Trimble, Tennessee to launch a moonshine distillery called “Michael Ballard’s Full Throttle S’loonshine”. The distillery has already become a popular tourist destination and the liquor will be distributed nationally. Ballard’s passion for bars and liquor began at a very early age. When he was just 12 years old, he began sneaking through the back door of the town’s biggest bar, the Silver Dollar Cafe.

Ballard’s girlfriend, Angie Carlson, is the Marketing Director for the Full Throttle Saloon and leads a team of girls called the “Flaunt Dancers” who perform various shows at “Angieland”, which is a special bar within Full Throttle. Angie’s signature move is to sit on a gentleman’s head during her dance.
